I had a good friend named Heidi Fredette, who was violently murdered. When she passed, needless to say, I was devastated and the police were unable to bring anyone to justice. Many years went by, and I moved on with my life. However one morning, 14 years after her death, I woke up thinking about Heidi. Couldn’t get her out of my mind. As the day went on, I just kept thinking about her, and it bothered me because I didn’t want to even think about it. Finally, I decided to do an Internet search of her name, to see if they had every caught her killer. I had never searched her name previously…not once. To my complete shock…that was the EXACT DAY the SF Chronicle ran an article that her killer had been identified through a cold case DNA hit. I called my Mom immediately to tell her my experience, and she was quite shocked also. So my question is…is this just the most perfect coincidental timing ever, or something else at work?
There have been many “Heidi” incidents over the years that I have shared with her family, but these two are the ones that really stand out for me. About six months ago I had my first encounter with an empath. I wanted to do something nice for Heidi, so last year I created a FB fundraising campaign to get money for a memorial bench for her. I worked extensively with the Portola City Council on getting it placed in the City Park, and set out to get this thing done. It was a lot of work. One day, I spent several hours working on it…coordinating with the City, talking to potential donors and volunteers, and working with the manufacturer on the design. By the end of the day I was mentally exhausted, but I had to get on a plane to head home. An Uber driver shows up to take me to the airport, which is about a 25 minute drive. She immediately starts complaining as I get in her car…she says its her last ride of the day, the Airport is far away from her home, she didn’t want to accept this ride but if she didn’t Uber would punish her for denying the pickup. She’s obviously in a bad mood, so I just start playing on my phone and give her her space. I’m completely silent in the car. About halfway through the ride, she starts crying loudly. I’m so uncomfortable at this point…never before (or since) have I had an Uber driver break down crying in the middle of a ride. But still I remain silent. Then she announces…”I’m sorry. I’m an empath and I’m feeling something right now.” I have no idea what an empath is, so I ask her. She explains to me that she has no idea why, or how, but that she can sense other people’s feelings. She says she’s not sensing my feelings, but someone else’s. Someone who has passed…who is looking down at me, smiling, and she’s proud of me and approves of what I’m doing. HOLY CRAP. I tell her Heidi’s story, and that I was working on this project all day, and she suddenly gets a huge smile, slaps the steering wheel, and yells “I knew it! You and I were supposed to get in this car together today! This is the Universe at work.” So once again my question is…is this just the most perfect coincidental timing ever, or something else at work?
