Sometimes it doesn’t matter that the piece of furniture doesn’t look so good anymore, it just may possess a certain energy about it. The piece in this story was a very old and rustic oak desk.
I was looking around for pieces for an auction house which I regularly deal with when I pulled up at a garage sale. A very European looking woman came to the door and ushered me in to see an old relic of a desk. As I was inspecting the piece she looked over her glasses towards me and said “Just so you know, this piece of furniture has a ghost associated with it…but don’t worry he wishes us no harm, he’s gentle.” Even as old and weathered as the desk was, I said I would take this well loved desk to sell at Auction.
The Auctioneer gladly accepted this old gem and successfully sold it at the next auction. The excited new owner bought and paid for the desk. While loading it into her truck, with the help of the Auctioneer, she said “Do you believe in spirits because there is definitely an energy attached to this piece!”. “How so?”, inquired the Auctioneer”. The new owner smiled and said “It’s funny, from the moment I saw this desk I felt an energy, the energy of an old gentleman.” The lady then paused for a moment while running her hand over the well worn desktop, “Yes a kindly European gentleman I believe.”
