Lobisomem
The werewolves of Brazil, or the Lobisomem, carried a variety of beliefs from Portugal which then settled in different regions of the New World. The Portuguese variations of werewolf folklore focus on unusual circumstances of birth resulting in the curse, such as incest, or if someone’s eighth child is a son after seven daughters. There’s even a vampiric variant, where tall gaunt and pale men turn into a werewolf to drink blood because they’re anemic.
The Lobisomem of Brazil have a couple of good news/bad news traditions. Good news: any injury can break the curse! Bad news: once they’ve transformed back. Good news: You can also kill one with bullets coated in the wax of alter candles used in three masses. Bad news: These and silver bullets both need to be heart shots to work.
